Michael “Michi” Brandl —Guitar

Michael is a self-taught musician and learns wherever he happens to be. He plays in several bands and projects. He has a special love for gypsy jazz, flamenco and tango argentino.

Michael is also a co-founder of the successful band Libertango. He works professionally as a stage musician in the Salzburger Schauspielhaus theatre, together with actors for readings and concerts. Since the year 2000 he has made numerous trips abroad to study the music of different regions: in Andalusia, Spain, to study flamenco guitar, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to immerse himself in the world of tango, in Cuba to get to know the songs and rhythms of the island. He is also in active collaboration with musicians in Andalusia (Spain; performances in Jerez de la Frontera, Marbella, Tarifa...), Marseille (France), and Savannah, Georgia (USA).

...and since mid-2014 he has been exploring the musical landscape of the Balkans with the Ostbeatbend.
