Bernie Rothauer has worked independently as a musician, sound engineer and rhythm educator in Salzburg since 1989.
His work includes an intensive engagement with West African, Brazilian and Cuban rhythms, Greek music and klezmer. He has run his own studio since 2003 and founded the label “ôbaxé-music” in 2007.
In addition to appearing in “Jedermann” at the Salzburg Festival and in various theatre productions, Bernie Rothauer won the first Austrian Folkförderpreis with “Kakilambe” and created dance accompaniments with Editha Braun, Tina Woodley, Adriana Carneiro and Adao Cesar de Lima.
He has also shared the stage with artists such as Dudu Tucci, Alegre Correa, Guem, Mamady Keita, Angelo Branduardi, Glen Velez and Willi Resetarits.
